We have fantastic news for all the Moana fans out there!
Disney previously revealed that we are getting not only a live-action Moana movie but also a Moana sequel! What was originally planned as a Moana TV series has been turned into a sequel to the animated film. The sequel is currently slated to come out in Fall 2024, and one of the lead cast members just shared an exciting update!
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who voices Maui in the original Moana film and will return for both the sequel and the live-action film, shared some photos on Instagram. He’s in the studio recording for the new animated film!
In his post, he shares, “Bringing MAUI🪝 back to life for MOANA 2! So much fun becoming MAUI again — a character that changed my life in many ways — including the character of MAUI being inspired by my late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia.”
Plus, a commenter asked about the live-action film, wondering if these were the same thing. Johnson responded to the user, confirming that filming for the live-action film will begin this summer!
We’re really looking forward to getting to see this film when it hits theaters on November 27th! Watch the first teaser trailer below!
